Hyannis may be known as one of Cape Cod’s busiest transportation and commercial centers, but there is another side of the village waiting to be explored. Behind the ferries, familiar attractions and busy roads is a multicultural community filled with independent restaurants, creative businesses, art and waterfront spaces.

Friday Evening: Begin With Caribbean Flavor
Start your weekend with dinner at Island Cafe & Grill, where Caribbean food and culture meet in a casual, welcoming environment. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner on select days, making it a possible stop at several points during your weekend.
Another option is The Karibbean Lounge Express, a downtown takeout spot serving Caribbean breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pick up your meal and bring it to the Hyannis Village Green or the harbor for a relaxed start to the weekend.
After dinner, take a walk along Main Street. Browse the shops, look for public art and continue toward the Walkway to the Sea, which connects the downtown district with the waterfront. The Hyannis HyArts Cultural District also includes artist studios, galleries and seasonal harbor shanties.
Saturday: Food, Beauty and Local Culture
Begin Saturday with breakfast or lunch from Gemini Caribbean Mart, Mi Pueblo or another locally owned restaurant serving the community’s Caribbean, Latin American and international flavors.
Turn the afternoon into a self-care experience. Book a hair appointment with Wigs by Amanda, then visit Linked & Fiery for permanent jewelry or a custom accessory. Because these services may require appointments, reserve your time before arriving.
Spend the remaining afternoon near the harbor, browse the artist shanties or walk through downtown. Hyannis has more than 100 shops and restaurants, so leave room in your schedule for spontaneous discoveries.
Saturday Night: Choose Your Own Feast
For tacos, burritos and Mexican comfort food, stop at El Mariachi Loco on Main Street.
For a larger dinner, try Brazilian Grill, where meats are served rodizio-style alongside a buffet of salads, soups, hot dishes and sides. You could also visit Fogo Brazilian BBQ, giving yourself another opportunity to experience the Brazilian community and flavors found in the Hyannis area.
Sunday: Slow Down Before Heading Home
Finish the weekend with a gentle outdoor walk. The Town of Barnstable has nearly 95 miles of mapped trails across 34 locations, giving visitors plenty of alternatives to the beach.
For an easy morning, stroll the waterfront, sit at Aselton Park or return to a restaurant you noticed earlier in the weekend. Hyannis works best when you let yourself move slowly, look beyond the familiar names and experience the people and cultures that make the village feel alive.
