If you've been following us for a while, you've probably noticed a new name.
Pop Up Street is now Local Culture.
The funny thing is that this change has been in the works for quite some time. In fact, I originally planned to make the switch last year. After talking with a respected local artist, I decided to wait. Their advice was simple: give people more time to get to know what you're building first.
Looking back, I'm glad I listened.
Pop Up Street started with pop-up events and a desire to create opportunities for local artists. We wanted to bring people together, introduce them to creative talent, and encourage them to explore the community around them.
As time went on, something interesting happened.
The stories we found ourselves sharing weren't always tied to an event.
We were sitting down with artists, visiting local restaurants, attending community gatherings, talking with business owners, exploring local history, and discovering people doing incredible things across Cape Cod.
Every conversation seemed to lead to another story.
Every event introduced us to someone new.
Every meal, gallery visit, market, performance, and community gathering revealed another layer of what makes this place special.
At some point, it became clear that the work had grown beyond the original name.
When people think of Cape Cod, they often think of beaches, seafood, and summer vacations. Those things are certainly part of the story, but they aren't the whole story.
Cape Cod is also artists creating in their studios.
It's small business owners opening their doors every morning.
It's family traditions passed from one generation to the next.
It's food, music, fashion, community gatherings, local history, and the people who help shape the character of the place we call home.
That's where Local Culture comes in.
The new name reflects what we've already been doing: exploring the people, places, traditions, food, art, and experiences that make Cape Cod unique.
Our mission hasn't changed.
We're still showing up at events.
We're still supporting local artists.
We're still celebrating small businesses and community.
We're still curious.
We're still telling stories.
The difference is that now our name better reflects the full picture.
Pop Up Street will always remain part of our story and continue to represent our event experiences. Local Culture simply gives us room to tell the stories we discover in between those events too.
Whether you're a year-round resident, a seasonal visitor, or someone discovering Cape Cod for the first time, we hope you'll continue exploring with us.
There are so many stories waiting to be told.
And we're excited to share them with you.
